Lead Test Engineer – Reading - £45-50k
A well-known engineering organisation is looking for a senior/lead test engineer to work in their Reading office. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree and will have experience leading a team of dedicated testers. In return a negotiable salary range of £45-50k is on offer as well as the chance to work in a highly skilled team.
Responsibilities
Leading and mentoring an in-house team of testers
Managing and delivering phases of testing for multiple assigned projects
Undertaking test design, planning and execution as appropriate
Ensuring the delivered services are formally tested and signed off prior to implementation
Analyse a system to identify the test conditions and test scripts required to test the software item, meeting the requirements of the approach defined in the test plan
Derive tests from requirements, design documents and user input and report on test coverage and traceability to the business requirements
Analyse the risks present in the software item under test, and the creation of test material that reflects the mitigation of those risks
Execute and record tests in accordance with the defined test process and the test plan/test schedule
Required
A good level of education, ideally with a relevant degree or the equivalent qualification or experience
Knowledge of testing techniques used to plan and execute software tests of all application components (functional and non-functional) to verify that the software satisfies specified requirements and to detect errors (Examples: white box and black box testing techniques, static testing techniques, non-functional testing techniques, test automation techniques)
Proven knowledge of working within defined key performance indicators and service level agreements
Commercial awareness e.g. relating to the constraints often applied to projects and the need to achieve high quality deliverables within those constraints
Familiar with writing test plans, scripts, completion reports, incident reports, and progress reports which must be written using clear and unambiguous language, using business centric or technical language as appropriate
Experience in leading and managing a team of testers
Experience of working with third parties e.g. Developers, Customer Departments, Users
Experience of working with CAD tools, Oracle e-Business suite, COTS packages, Intranets and bespoke code developments
Experienced in using and scripting with automated test tools (such as HP QTP)
Experience in non-functional testing, for instance operational acceptance and performance testing, is desirable
