Our client is a specialist supplier of surveillance systems for the UK and export markets and due to recent project wins has a need for an experienced Project Manager.
The projects combine modification of existing equipment and development of new products. Elements of the system are safety critical, SIL4. Our client is acting as “prime” and has the role of system design authority as well as system integrator and will provide support to extensive user trials.
The project has stringent safety and security requirements
Due to the security clearance requirements of this role candidates must be SC cleared UK nationals (no dual nationals) at the point employment commences
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for:
Delivery of the project to cost, timescale and technical performance requirements: this will include the tender response, main programme and support phases of the project
Leading the management of relationships with key MoD project stakeholders
Management of subcontract organisations responsible for development and manufacture of system equipment and software
Identification and mitigation of project risks
With the Project Support Officer, developing a framework of best-practice project management processes and procedures that can be applied throughout the business
Requirements
Demonstrable experience of managing complex development and manufacturing programmes within the UK defence market, MoD experience is high on the list of preferred skills.
Demonstrable experience of managing complex development and manufacture subcontracts
Proven success in customer engagement
Good understanding of commercial and financial aspects of bids and projects for UK
defence market
Qualified Prince 2 Practitioner or similar project management methodologies
In depth knowledge of the Shipley bid winning process or similar
A good reputation with the Special Projects team is desirable
Ability to establish good working relationships with customers, subcontractors and colleagues
Presents ideas successfully, with strong negotiation and persuasion skills
Excellent communicator with strong listening skills
Strong analytical skills able to produce workable solutions to problems
Capable planner with highly developed organisational and time management skills
High quality standards with focus on delivery
