The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) is the trade body that supports and represents the recruitment industry. Recruitment is a £26.673 billion industry, responsible for placing over 787,000 employees in permanent work each year and for the 1,377,740 temporary workers out on assignment in any given week. Recruitment impacts on every sector of the UK economy.

The REC's membership is made up of over 8,000 recruitment agencies and businesses (corporate members) and 6,000 recruitment professionals (individual members).

The REC helps the recruitment industry and its members in a number of ways, including:

·         Raising recruitment standards

·         Lobbying and influencing government and business for the benefit of members and the overall employment market

·         Providing an invaluable source of recruitment knowledge

·         Helping individuals develop successful careers in recruitment

·         Delivering business support to members in a wide variety of different areas

The REC has two types of membership:

1.     Corporate membership for recruitment businesses

2.     Individual membership for recruitment consultants
