The Safety and Reliability Society provides a recognised professional status for safety, reliability and engineering risk management practitioners. Formed in the UK in 1980, it now has approximately 600 members in the UK, mainland Europe, the Middle East, USA and the Asia Pacific region.

The society keeps its members up to date on the latest developments in safety, both in the UK and internationally, as well as providing a mechanism to comment upon and input to developing codes and standards. It provides a forum for technical discussion and debate, cross fertilisation of ideas and propagation of best practice amongst its members.

The Safety and Reliability Society admits individual members, affiliate members and corporate members. There are 5 different categories of individual membership:
