Test Equipment Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be required to work within the Test Systems Department, designing manual and automated production test facilities for testing boards and sub-assemblies and providing design for test analysis on new design printed circuit boards and sub assemblies. The successful applicant will also be responsible for test software development using National Instruments CVI and Test Stand using National Instruments I/O cards.
The Test Engineer is expected to mentor production technicians / operators engaged on test tasks, and to conduct ‘on the job’ training, support and first line repair of test facilities at the North West London site and subcontractor’s sites.
Experience and Qualifications:
Development of Production Test solutions including:
• Influencing DFT & DFM during product design and thus ensuring an efficient test process.
• Planning of test equipment manufacture to meet programme schedules and cost estimates.
• Maintaining test development labour and materials spend against agreed budgets.
• Designing test equipment for use during product development, specification compliance testing, EQT, EMC, TEMPEST, ESS & production test stages.
• Use of various software development environments including National Instruments TestStand, LabWindows CVI & LabView.
• Designing test equipment solutions that are innovative, reliable, fit for purpose, on-time and within budget.
• Designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining test equipment at PCB sub-contractors.
• Providing support & training to PCB sub-contractors both on site and remotely.
• Producing automated test facilities where appropriate to simplify or de-skill production test stages or for unattended test stages such as ESS.
• Producing test facilities to test multiple units simultaneously to increase throughput during longer test stages such as ESS.
• Producing good quality, informative documentation including Production Test Schedules.
• Keeping up to date with new technologies and use to improve test processes.
• Supporting to production test with fault finding of product where required.
• Supporting qualification testing including offsite when required
• Supporting test facilities at other UK locations other than North West London.
Mandatory
• The successful candidate will be required to satisfy a full security clearance to UK eyes only level clearance and will ideally hold SC clearance level already.
• Valid UK (manual) Driving Licence.
