Account Manager needed for a leading aerospace and defence company based in Dorset who are looking to employ an experienced Account Manager who will ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated on existing/new customer accounts, also ensuring the business maintains commercial compliance to customer contracts. They are also looking for someone who has a data-driven, analytical & process mindset also including proven experience within a technical or business field and proven experience within managing complex customer accounts.

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Account Manager will include:

  • Execution of the strategic business plan for the company with the Senior Management team
  • Understand the value drivers of the business and identifying profitable opportunities to grow revenue and market share within its current customer base
  • Implementation of the commercial strategy
  • Key inputs into the sales and planning process and management of the commercial team's input to this and the "front end" process
  • Creation and management of a self-sustaining commercial team to achieve market leading account management, customer service, new business implementation and customer technical management
  • Developing and maintaining an excellent understanding of key customers, attending regular reviews to ensure their needs are being met, their business is retained and future improvements/services are identified and developed
  • Reviewing existing services using determined KPIs and driving towards SC21 silver performance
  • Preparation of monthly reports and forecasting data
  • use of CRM tool
  • Working closely with the Manager of Programmes to manage key customers (existing and new) thereby improving turnover and profitability
  • Working alongside the Senior Commercial Officer to assess the risk to the business of any new commercial opportunities, including contract review and to agree contracts for approval
  • representing the company externally e.g. at networking events, conferences and exhibitions to enhance and strengthen the company's profile and optimise all business development opportunities
  • Liaising with relevant internal departments to ensure that customer needs are met and that customer requirements are fully communicated throughout the business
  • Communicating with all major stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve business objectives
  • Collating and analysing business data pertaining to all commercial activities
  • Ensuring that all commercial activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets (KPIs) in line with business objectives
  • Ensuring good relations and communications with all members of the team and responding in a timely manner to internal and external customers
  • Observing and complying with company health & safety policies and company standard operating procedures
  • Undertaking any other duties which may be requested by the Manager of Programmes for which training and/or an explanation has been provided ad understood

What you need to be the successful Account Manager:

In order to be the successful Account Manager and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:

  • Experience within a technical or business field
  • Previous experience of managing complex customer accounts
  • Data-driven, analytical & process mindset with significant attention to detail
  • Demonstrable customer facing experience and strong inter personal skills
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration capabilities / indirect leadership
  • Flexibility to assume workloads which necessitate adjustment of priorities
  • A high level of initiative
  • Must be eligible for Security Clearance
