AV Installation & Service Engineer

Location: UK-wide / Field Based
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Working Hours: 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Gold Group is working with an established organisation within the commercial audio visual sector to recruit an AV Installation & Service Engineer.

This is a field-based role suited to an experienced AV engineer who is confident working independently across installation, fault finding, maintenance and service work. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality AV installations and responding to service calls across the UK, ensuring work is completed safely, professionally and to the required standard.

The role will involve regular UK travel and, when required, overnight stays and out-of-hours work to accommodate client requirements.

The Role

As an AV Installation & Service Engineer, you will:

• Carry out commercial audio and AV installation works in accordance with project plans and job-specific instructions.
• Attend service calls to diagnose, fault-find and resolve audio and AV system issues.
• Accurately report unresolved faults to the technical team, providing clear recommendations for further action.
• Work independently or as part of a two-person engineering team, including alongside subcontractors.
• Take responsibility as lead engineer on selected installation projects where required.
• Read and interpret drawings, plans and site documentation, marking up plans where necessary.
• Complete installation, service, health & safety and site paperwork accurately and on time.
• Liaise professionally with clients and site teams, following relevant site procedures and access requirements.
• Support other engineers in the field, including equipment deliveries and assisting less experienced or trainee engineers.
• Maintain appropriate stock and equipment levels, including carrying out vehicle checks where a company vehicle is provided.
• Escalate any issues encountered on site promptly to the relevant project or operations team.
• Work in accordance with company policies, procedures and health & safety requirements.

About You

We are looking for an experienced AV engineer with a strong background in commercial installation and service.

You will ideally have:

• 2-3+ years' experience in audio or audio visual installation, ideally within a commercial environment.
• Proven experience in AV fault finding, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.
• The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Experience working on construction or commercial sites.
• Competence using power tools, hand tools and associated installation equipment.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mark up plans on site.
• A professional, reliable and conscientious approach to client-facing work.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to plan workloads around locations and time-sensitive requirements.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
• A full UK driving licence and confidence driving in cities and unfamiliar locations.
• The flexibility to travel and work away from home when required.
• Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be physically capable of carrying equipment to sites where parking or access restrictions apply and be comfortable working at height.
• CSCS/ECS and Asbestos Awareness qualifications are desirable, although training can be provided. IPAF/PASMA and Working at Height qualifications would also be advantageous.
• The role can involve early starts, late finishes and occasional overnight work, depending on client and project requirements.
