Business Development Manager needed for a well-established award-winning media company based in West Sussex who are looking to employ an experienced Business Development Manager with an in-depth knowledge of Marketing and Sales

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Business Development Manager will include:

  • Sales ability: takes a consultative approach delivering high-value, personal sales across multi-platforms
  • Senior sales experience: understanding of B2B media including print, web and event sales
  • Leadership: leads by example, engendering sales team pride and belief in brands and their products
  • Strategic thinking: develops, implements and measures a successful sales strategy
  • Sound commercial judgement: identifies and develops projects/exploits opportunities with content teams that are commercial winners
  • Management skills: the ability to train, coach and manage sales teams; recruit, appraise and manage performance
  • Communication and personal effectiveness: clear and literate written and verbal communication skills; the ability to deal proactively with key internal and external stakeholders and build relationships
  • Personal qualities: high level of integrity, driven, dynamic, focussed, approachable and positive personality

What you need to be the successful Business Development Manager:

  • Work with the Editor, Publisher and Sales Director to achieve the growth and revenue targets of the brands
  • Develop and implement sales plans to achieve targets
  • Achieve personal sales targets and develop high-value commercial client partners, working closely with the Editor where necessary
  • Lead, manage and motivate the sales teams to identify opportunities for growth
  • Deliver accurate and timely sales management reporting and forecasting to the Sales Director and Publisher
  • Develop sales incentives to drive sales growth and momentum
  • Keep up-to-date with the competition and industry developments and share with team
  • Ensure the sales team has the necessary sales collateral (USPs and proof points), supporting material/info, and training and coaching to assist them in their roles
  • Set annual targets and work with the Sales Director and Publisher on annual budgets and re-forecasts
  • Other projects or tasks as necessary from time to time
