Brief
A Buyer is needed for a respected and highly reputable defence organisation based in Weymouth who are looking to employ an experienced and well- rounded Buyer that takes pride in their work and experience with costing, negotiation and procurement.
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Buyer will include:
- The acquisition of goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership, in the right quantity and quality, at the right time, in the right place.
- Raise purchase orders in line with the MRP & Purchase Requisition system requirements.
- Action weekly MRP messages.
- Responsible for obtaining the most competitive quotations relating to material required for direct and indirect material.
- Responsible for the management of the procurement of bought out materials for selected commodities & suppliers & to ensure that bought out materials meet specification, delivery & quality requirements.
- Monitor and act on supplier performance measures, bringing in new measures where required.
- Run daily critical shortage report for NPI material.
- Contacting suppliers to expedite material.
- Resolving invoice queries.
What experience you need to be the successful Buyer:
- It would be preferable if fully CIPS qualified.
- A strong team player with the ability to create and maintain effective professional relationships with suppliers and other members of staff.
- Must be able to obtain security clearance.
- To be PC literate and be able to effectively use essential software packages.
- Full Driving Licence.
