Brief

Calibration Technician needed for a leading defence engineering organisation based in Portsmouth who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Calibration Technician that takes pride in their work.

In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that require you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.

As a Calibration Technician you will be conducting performance testing, optimisation and adjustment activities on hand tools, test & measurement equipment (TME) and radiation protection instruments (RPI). You will provide input into technical problem solving and defect rectification activities.

This role will provide you with the opportunities to become accredited and there are many opportunities to progress within the role.

What the role of the Calibration Technician entails:

Some of the main duties of the Calibration Technician will include:

  • Conducting performance testing, optimisation and adjustment activities on hand tools test & measurement equipment (TME) and radiation detection & monitoring equipment (RDME) under direct technical supervision and close managerial control
  • Submitting all reports, complete with all relevant information, and seeking appropriate signatures and approvals as required
  • Researching problems and issues, gathering information from a range of physical and informational sources
  • Reviewing defects on the measurement systems or TME/RDME in order to gain a complete understanding of the problem and all relevant circumstances
  • Updating records, performance information, and in-service data such that all information is current
  • Identifying and assisting in the development of work procedures and technical documents
  • Completing management information as required including report status against own workload

What experience you need to be the successful Calibration Technician:

  • Previous experience within metrology / Calibration
  • Must be able to write technical reports
  • The ability to build relationships is essential
  • The ability to acquire & maintain UK Government SC clearance
