Calibration Technician


Calibration Technician required to join a globally established Defence company located near Greenford. The Calibration Technician's responsibility is to ensure that the company's measuring equipment and gauges remain calibrated to National standards and support the MRB Process within the business.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Administration of the Calibration database on the ERP system
  • Co-ordinate the timely withdrawal of equipment requiring calibration from its place of use with Team Leaders and Managers and return the same equipment following successful calibration
  • Co-ordinate and record shipments to and from other subcontract calibration houses
  • Develop, update and review Calibration Procedures
  • Analyse, maintain and retrieve Calibration records
  • Quarantine measuring equipment out of calibration or not in continual use
  • Where measuring equipment is found to be out of tolerance instigate an impact investigation by the appropriate Quality Engineer and record the conclusions
  • Carry out calibrations of internal measuring equipment, including jigs and gauges, crimp tools and torque drivers
  • Carry out and record ESD bench testing, test interface boxes and some PAT testing
  • Train other team members in calibration processes as required
  • Support the MRB Administrator when required by performing, containment of Non-Conforming material, hosting MRB Meetings & returning defective material back to suppliers in a timely manner.
  • Support in delivering departmental objectives

Skillset required of the Calibration Technician:

  • Experience of calibrating complex test systems and test equipment within aerospace
  • Familiar with appropriate standards and processes within area
  • Be familiar with test equipment calibration, and test techniques for complex electronic systems
  • Some experience of analysing and solving problems
  • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Works effectively with others
  • Proactively able to manage own work in order to achieve objectives
  • Uses own initiative and makes timely decisions within the scope of the role and has some financial awareness of the consequences of decisions
  • Demonstrates a "Can do" positive attitude and leads by example
  • Good application of Microsoft packages and relevant software for the role

Exposure and experience with some of the following is required:

  • Test equipment calibration and/or design (automated and manual)
  • PXI/PCI test equipment technology
  • Instrument control methods (GPIB, RS232, USB, Ethernet)
