My client currently have a vacancy for a Civil Engineer that is looking for a career opportunity in a dynamic and challenging design environment and to build on their portfolio submission to Chartership or continue technical/leadership development if Chartership has already been achieved.

They have an established training culture and operate under a structure of coaching, mentoring and collaboration.

Some of the main duties of the Civil Engineer will include:

  • Undertaking Technical and Feasibility strategies and studies, FRA's, report writing, drawing up plans and details
  • Developing Detailed Designs from concept to construction to comply with relevant regulations, best practice and guidance
  • Developing SuDS designs to mitigate flood risk and water quality issues
  • Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Coordinating site investigations and analysing data
  • Managing resources efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Liaising effectively with architects, contractors, consultants, statutory authorities, co-workers and clients
  • Using computer-aided design (CAD) technology
  • Developing others including our Trainee Engineers/Technicians & Graduates
  • Working successfully alongside Line Management

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications of the ideal Civil Engineer:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Civil Engineering Qualification
  • Construction Degree/Qualification
  • Civil Engineering understanding
  • Detailed experience using Micro-drainage and or Civils 3D.

Essential skills/competencies

  • Prepare sketches, technical reports and specifications
  • Ability to maintain client contact to inform of progress, issues and problems
  • Competent use of Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Detailed understanding and use of Analytical/Design and CAD software
  • Ability to think creatively to resolve design and development problems

Desired attributes:

  • Geotechnical and geo-environmental awareness/ background
  • Approaching Chartership with ICE
