The Civils Site Supervisor / Manager Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Civils Supervisor / Manager to join our team on a permanent basis in Ashford and Sussex working on the civils side of the Virgin Media Contract.

As Civils Supervisor you will be responsible for supervising our field operatives (direct labour and sub contract) to ensure that all orders are delivered to time, in a safe and compliant manner, ensuring all contractual processes, procedures and quality standards are met.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an accredited to NRSWA Supervisors and have been involved in installing fibre for network extensions and upgrades.

Main Responsibilities of the Civils Supervisor / Manager:

  • Co-ordination of Client work orders, to ensure programmed dates are successfully met
  • Carry out on site Health & Safety Audits. Document results and implement improvement schemes as necessary
  • Ensure engineers adhere to all aspects of The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Section 74 Regulations and Construction Design Management Regulations
  • Provide regular reports to the Project Manager. Items to be included but not limited to, Health & Safety, Progress, and Customer relations issues.
  • Other key performance indicators may be required and will be agreed between Supervisor and Project Manager / Contracts Manager
  • Review meetings will be held on a monthly basis. Adopt best working practices to ensure all operatives are working to maximum output

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of Utilities / Highways or Telecommunications works projects
  • Preferable to hold a valid Supervisors NRSWA card, Gold CSCS and SSSTS/SMSTS
  • Experience in Highways / Utilities / Civils work at a supervisory level
  • Basic Commercial awareness
  • Full UK driving license
  • Have good written and numerical skills
  • IT skills competent
  • To be a good communicator and to be able to pass on skills
  • To be a good self-organiser and organiser of others
  • To be assertive, diplomatic and patient
  • Self motivating and a good motivator of the labour force
  • Generally to be willing, helpful, enthusiastic and flexible
