Brief

To primarily provide contract management of Customer contracts and Supply Chain contracts. Also, to provide legal advice and drafting to facilitate the development and conclusion of Commercial relationships with the full range of external parties.

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Contracts Manager will include:

  • Provide support and advice on new potential businesses opportunities.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the different teams relating to contracting strategy, form and implementation.
  • Overseeing and assisting in the preparation, negotiation, execution and management of all contracts within the business to ensure compliance to contractual terms company policies, legislative requirements, and objectives and to identify risk.
  • Assisting in the preparation of commercial bids and negotiating contracts.
  • Meeting with customers and suppliers to ensure full understanding of contractual requirements.
  • Ensuring all contract documentation is up to date.
  • Managing and monitoring contractual changes within customer and supplier contracts to maximise opportunities and minimise risks.
  • Creating and maintaining standard contracts that the company can use in its dealing with customers and external partners.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with suppliers to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Ensure the organisation's internal contract documents are accurate and well maintained.
  • Meeting with customers and suppliers to discuss business and legal issues arising from contracts.
  • Providing guidance and processes to assist the procurement department in their due diligence of potential business partners.
  • Developing processes to manage key milestones within each contract, including renewals, termination and key deliverables.
  • Overseeing and assisting in the resolution of legal disputes.
  • Training and assisting the team in the identification of potential legal issues and the escalation and management of those issues as they arise.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and devise plans to implement these changes.
  • Overseeing invoicing throughout the project.
  • Maintaining, updating and improving contractual records.

What experience you need to be the successful Contracts Manager:

Qualifications

Law degree (LLB, BA or equivalent legal qualification)

Experience/Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of local and international contract laws and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of legal terminology.
  • Strong research skills and in depth understanding of financial analytics and legal agreements.
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidimensional team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Possesses superior organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines.
  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office, Confluence, Salesforce and SAP.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in the defence industry.
  • Strong people, negotiation and customer management skills.
