Brief
Data Architect needed for a leading defence & security organisation with offices in Farnborough, London, Bristol and the Manchester areas who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Data Architect that takes pride in their work.
As a Data Architect, you will be creating, maintaining, and communicating the data architecture strategy for one or more functional data domains (within the context of the enterprise strategy), ensuring that coherent, recognised, and accepted data definitions are developed and applied through the domain. You will also be collaborating with relevant functions and domain architects to understand the implications of respective architectures on data architecture and maximize the value of data across the organization.
Positions are available across the UK at a variety of locations. The company operates a hybrid flexible working model, where you will be required on site roughly 2-3 times per week to your relevant site location.
What the role of the Data Architect entails:
Some of the main duties of the Data Architect will include:
- Supporting the development and communication of the enterprise vision for data architecture
- Informing and adopts data modelling standards, guidelines, best practices and approved modelling techniques and approaches.
- Leading and supervises the creation of coherent conceptual, logical and physical data models for relevant domains in the organization.
- Managing the metadata management approach for each domain
- Supporting the maturity and adoption of the EIM across the organization
- Participate in due diligence of software purchases by reviewing proposed data models contained in packaged or commercially available applications.
- Supporting data integration, business intelligence and content management teams.
- Informs and influences IM&T roadmaps for functional capability roadmaps
- Participates in data integration and information management programs and projects by rationalizing data processing for reusable module development.
- Supports functional leaders to define, build, develop and exploit data within their domains
- Works jointly across enterprise architecture to develop data objects and data models to support business strategy requirements and changes in current capabilities
What experience you need to be the successful Data Architect:
Essential
- Understanding of metamodels, taxonomies, ontologies, and challenges of applying structured techniques (data modelling) to less-structured sources
- Knowledge in user experience modelling, information design, and concept generation
- Implementation steps of data and analytics management programs
- System integration, including interface design, and familiarity with web-oriented architecture techniques
- Conveys complex and technical business issues to diverse audiences, and projects a highly credible, polished image in presentations and communications
Desirable
- Experience in data/information modelling and architecture or equivalent roles
- Ideally be trained at least to ITIL foundation and either appropriate ITIL Intermediate or other appropriate capability training.
- Knowledge of working within a SIAM operating model would be beneficial.
- Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. computer science, information systems, or a related study.)
