DBA / Developer required to join a global software business
The Database Administrator supports the planning, design, implementation, coordination, and administration of client and internal databases. This job's contributions are typically in regards to the fulfilment of projects and organization objectives using judgement within defined practices and procedures to accomplish moderately difficult projects.
Required Skills:
Essential
2-5 years experience with at least one or more of following Commercial Database technologies
Microsoft SQL Server
Oracle
1-2 years experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB
2-5 years Information Systems development experience in one or more of the following areas
Database Administration in Enterprise environment
Database Software Development
Logical and physical data modelling
Data normalization
Stored Procedure and SQL development, tuning and optimization
Web based application development using one or more of following
.Net
C/C++
Java/PHP/Python
Demonstrated experience developing and deploying scripting automation to eliminate manual, repetitive database administration tasks
Desirable
Microsoft Certified Database Administrator
Oracle Certified Database Administrator
AWS and/or Azure experience
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Administers database software and platforms and manages the relationships between database users, applications, and underlying infrastructure to maintain the organization's databases across multiple platforms, geographical locations and computing environments.
Collaborates with R&D and infrastructure staff to identify data relationships and functional requirements to achieve performance, availability, and scalability objectives.
Designs, develops, and deploys software tools of moderate complexity to automate database deployments, database configuration management, database software administration, and database de-provisioning to provide full information lifecycle management of enterprise data.
Diagnoses, identifies, and resolves moderately complex database performance events; develops best practice database design patterns for use by application R&D teams for scalable and highly available enterprise application database solutions.
Plans computerized databases including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection.
Designs, implements, and manages database backup and recovery processes, tools, and platforms.
Develops and maintains both basic and advanced database tools (support, monitoring, query, and data analysis tools) for application support and operational teams to identify, diagnose, and potentially resolve database availability and performance issues of varying complexity.
Identifies and implements database security best practice methods, processes, and tools to secure databases against unauthorized data access.
Implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of database platforms and systems.
Applies a full use and application of theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies to developmental assignments.
