We are looking for talented and enthusiastic Design Engineers who can strengthen our teams serving a wide range of engineering sectors. You will join an established and fast growing mechanical design team who specialise in delivering custom bespoke design solutions for various clients. You will get a chance to work on a variety of projects in this role.
We are looking for somebody that can apply creative design skills to large, small and often very complex tasks in a consultancy environment. Typical projects would involve the design of mechanical systems, unique / early stage products, special purpose equipment, proof of principle prototypes and bespoke products so if you enjoy a Design challenge then this is a great place for you.
The job involves taking responsibility for all aspects of design projects from initial definition of the work and the concept design through to delivery of completed substantiated designs and then supporting these into manufacture and commissioning.
You will have contact with clients throughout a project, typically defining the scope, preparing proposals, holding technical meetings, preparing and delivering presentations, attending design reviews and producing technical reports so we are looking for somebody that likes to interact with the customer.
You will be able to demonstrate exceptional technical and design skills and the ability to apply these across a range of engineering industries.
A good understanding of some of the disciplines listed below will be required.
- Experience and the application of the generic and client specific design process' from concept through to detailed design and manufacture support
- Proficient in 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX, but also others are equally suitable.
- Producing design justification through the use of analytical skills (hand calculations and/or FEA)
- Excellent Report writing and communication skills
Experience in or knowledge of the following would be an advantage:
- Nuclear power generation systems and equipment
- Bespoke equipment design
- Test facility design (static or rotating rigs)
- Gas turbine engine or test facility design
- Defence industry experience
Experience of workinmg directly with customers is important in this role and the right candidate will likely have a good degree in an engineering discipline or have proven relevant industrial experience.
Where required, training will be given in relevant design and analytical tools.
