Electronics Design Engineer

ELECTRONICS DESIGN ENGINEER WITH EXPERIENCE IN POWER ELECTRONICS

Based in Guildford, you will be involved in the development of unique high-performance electronics to control and monitor our flywheel systems. The company is currently made up of a small team (10-15 people) of passionate, self-motivated, innovative and creative individuals.

They are offering a competitive salary package £35kpa+ with great company benefits.

Electronics Design Engineer Knowledge & responsibilities will include:

• Developing power electronics to control a motor
• Maintaining the embedded codebase Expected:
• Knowledge of motor control design
• Half bridge and full bridge controller design
• Understanding of thermal calculations and characteristics for power electronic devices
• Knowledge of energy storage systems and their applications
• Experience with communication protocols
• CAN -RS232 -RS485 -SPI -I2C -1
• Wire -Knowledge of embedded C for STM32 systems
• Understanding of CPLDs/FPGAs
• Altera/Intel Quartus
• VHDL

Desirable Knowledge for the Electrical design engineer will include:

• Mechanical knowledge of flywheel systems
• Understanding of flywheel energy storage systems
• Previous experience with variable speed drives for motors
• Knowledge of Python
• Matplotlib -Pyserial
• Tk
• Knowledge of EMC testing and requirements
• Knowledge of CE/UL/CSA certification for products
• Hands on mechanical experience
