Brief

Engineering Change Manager needed for a leading defence & security organisation based in the Portsmouth area who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Engineering Change Manager that takes pride in their work.

In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that require you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.

The successful Engineering Change Manager would desirably be educated to degree level, or equivalent professional/vocational qualification. As an Engineering Change Manager, you will be responsible for robustly and efficiently managing engineering change through the embodiment phase at a programme level across multiple platforms to ensure that the ships design integrity is maintained, and change is progressed in an expedient manner.

Experience within a maritime / naval organization would be a significant advantage!

What the role of the Engineering Change Manager entails:

Some of the main duties of the Engineering Change Manager will include:

• Managing and leading the engineering Technical Query process through the embodiment phase at a programme level across multiple concurrent platforms to ensure that the ships design integrity is maintained
• Management of Notice of Changes (NOCs) received from the customer
• Engaging with Lloyds Register and other design authorities to obtain approvals for changes that impact on previous design appraisal/approvals
• Feeding into engineering reviews and provide information on status of Engineering Change as required
• Working with alliance partners and key OEM's to continually enhance technical artefacts needed to support embodiment, test, commissioning, and acceptance
• Working with alliance partners and wider project stakeholders to resolve complex specialist installation and commissioning problems and issues using good interpersonal skills to communicate technical design matters
• Working with a high degree of technical autonomy, demonstrating a commitment to professional design engineering principles and values
• Identifying and managing opportunities for improvements in both business processes and project activities and drive continuous improvements actions through to completion

What experience you need to be the successful Engineering Change Manager:

Essential skills:

• Awareness of project-based methodology of managing engineering change projects
• Career in engineering or Technical background

Desirable skills:

• Previous experience managing Engineering Change
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical subject (obtained or working towards) and/or relevant experience
• Awareness of defence i.e., Standards / Lloyds Register / Naval Certificates
• Experience in the marine/naval industry
