Brief

Environmental Engineer needed for a leading defence engineering organisation based in the Bristol area who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Environmental Engineer that takes pride in their work.

In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that require you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.

Positions are available from Senior - Principal levels, with responsibilities, salaries etc. being dependent on experience.

Environmental Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Environmental Science or other related environmental management subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become members of an appropriate recognised professional institution and work towards becoming Chartered Environmentalists. Environmental Engineers are encouraged and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation. Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

What the role of the Environmental Engineer entails:

Some of the main duties of the Environmental Engineer will include:

• Supporting the programme of work for PE management activities and development of documentation
• Attending internal and external meetings on Product Environment as required. Keeping up to date in relevant technical areas, developing skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services and supply environmental support and expertise to others as required
• Managing assigned work programme and liaising with Principal Environmental Engineer on environmental reporting
• Maintaining awareness of legislation as applicable to our products
• Understanding environment assessments for equipment, systems and platforms

What experience you need to be the successful Environmental Engineer:

• Ideally degree qualified, likely to be in an environmental or related discipline
• 3 Years' experience in environmental management
• Meet the requirements for registration as practitioner Member of IEMA
• Experienced in a multi- disciplined engineering environment
• Possesses good knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental management techniques
• Has sufficient breadth of knowledge of Defence/maritime products environmental management
