Environmental Engineer

Environmental Engineer needed for a highly reputable defence and aerospace organization based in Bedford. The Environmental Engineer will Develop the Environmental Case for the LEAPP system to satisfy customer (MOD). The Environmental Case is to be developed in accordance with Def Stan 00-051 and use the guidance found in MOD Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS).
The specific Job description of the Environmental Engineer:
For this role in particular the Environmental Engineer will:
- Update of the extant LEAPP Environmental Management Plan to align to current MOD standards and guidance as well as the current LEAPP programme and engineering and business process.
- Review and update the register of environmental stakeholders and relevant environmental standards, compile standards and legislative compliance requirements and work with the engineering team to determine compliance position.
- Generate environmental screening and scoping study and resultant environmental feature matrix. Identify extant features of the LEAPP system that manage environmental risks and impacts as well as and new requirements that are required to demonstrate environmental risks and impacts are satisfactorily managed. Work with the engineering and wider stakeholders to show suitable management of environmental risks and impacts are implemented.
- Generate EISS and Environmental Case Report and manage release and acceptance by the customer.
- The job will also include management of the environmental programme, engaging with the key internal stakeholders including safety manager, programme manager and chief engineer. It will also include engagement with external stakeholders including users and the MOD Safety and Environmental Manager.
The required skills of the Environmental Engineer:
Specifically, the Environmental Engineer will need:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Def Stan 00-051 and MOD ASEMS POEMS process.
- Evidence of competency in the environmental management role (formal qualification or experience of developing MOD environmental cases).
