Fibre Planner Job Summary:

I have an excellent new opportunity for a fibre experienced (FTTP), telecoms focused Fibre Planner to join an expanding team in Worcester.

Having recently secured several £multimillion projects, and with the view of acquiring more, a need for a Fibre Planner on a permanent basis is urgent!

The business you'll be working for is a family owned Internet Service Provider bringing broadband to rural areas through a mixture of different technologies.

Working on major new design projects as the company extends its networks in specific geographic regions.

Day to Day Tasks for the Fibre Planner

  • The role will be largely fibre planning but may also use specific software to map our current and new fixed wireless network and help design projects for tenders in the future.
  • On a daily basis you will create high level designs and low-level designs, this involves; identifying backhaul solutions and cabinet locations, choosing an appropriate fibre deployment method, performing link loss budget calculations and completing splice packs.
  • Other tasks will include; analysing data from survey reports, using google earth as a reference point and liaising with both internal employees and external contractors to resolve any problems that have been identified.

Must Haves for the Fibre Planner

  • The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail.
  • They should be able to work both on their own and as part of a team, liaising with both engineers and senior staff.
  • Able to work to strict deadline and be flexible to meet requirements when needed.
  • Past experience with designing fibre networks or an understanding of fibre principles from a splicing background.
  • An awareness of calculating link loss budgets or the key events that cause light loss is essential.
  • A knowledge of GIS or the Openreach PIA platform would be desirable.

The candidate does not need experience of software, as full training will be given.

(Our systems are unique so whilst past experience isn't needed, they will need to be a quick learner with an enthusiasm in telecoms.)
