IT Consultant / 2nd Line Support Engineer

Brief
2nd Line Support Engineer needed for a highly reputable IT Solutions organisation based in East Sussex who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded 2nd Line Support Engineer that takes pride in their work. As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will respond to either support team or end user software or hardware queries via email, phone or face to face for a number of external clients.
The successful candidate would desirably have a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience and have a keen interest in information technology. If you have any qualifications such as MCSE, MCSA, MCITP or CCNA it would be highly beneficial towards your application
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the 2nd Line Support Engineer will include:
- Administer and maintain customer infrastructure, including Active Directory, LAN, Internet access, firewalls and Exchange/Office 365
- Administer VMware
- Monitor and troubleshoot server and network performance utilising the monitoring system to ensure any necessary action is taken
- Administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes
- Operational administration and configuration of high-availability server systems
- Monitor, configure, and maintain servers and storage hardware
- Problem solving with third-party providers (Microsoft, VMware)
What experience you need to be the successful 2nd Line Support Engineer:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Friendly, confident and professional telephone manner
- Eager to learn new skills and invest in personal development
- Good attention to detail with well-developed problem-solving skills
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Self-motivated with the ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Minimum of three years in technical support
- Good knowledge and experience with Exchange and Office 365
- Strong knowledge of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10 operating systems
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office software
- Experience working with servers (Server 2008, 2012, & 2016)
- Experience working with VMware & Hyper-V would be beneficial towards your application
