Brief

Junior IT Support Technician needed for an award-winning logistics organisation based in London who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Junior IT Support Technician that takes pride in their work. As a Junior IT Support Technician, you will be responsible for providing first class support for internal users, providing support on IT Infrastructure/installation and Cyber/Physical security.

The successful candidate would desirably have a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience working in IT Support and have a keen interest in Information Technology. If you have experience using Microsoft Packages that would be a plus!

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Junior IT Support Technician will include:

  • Managing 1st & 2nd line support on-site and remotely
  • Problem investigation, diagnosis and solution implementation
  • Documentation of actions and findings using ITSM toolkit (FreshService)
  • Effective communication with end user throughout process
  • Monitor backups across estate / perform periodic DR tests
  • Monitor service uptime including PaaS / SaaS services
  • Implementation of hardware and services whether remotely, on-site or off-site
  • Preparation of equipment and services in line with work specification and appropriate deadlines
  • Investigate security alerts and provide incident response
  • Keep up to date with the latest security and technology developments, ensuring infrastructure is scanned/patched against any new vulnerabilities
  • Monitor for attacks, intrusions and unusual, unauthorised, or illegal activity
  • Monitor on-site CCTV alerts, ensuring CCTV system is functional and report any suspicious activity
  • Support with any general IT administration

What experience you need to be the successful Junior IT Support Technician:

  • Minimum 6 months previous experience within a 1st Line Support / 2nd Line Support / IT Administrator / IT Technician / IT Helpdesk role
  • Experience in management of computer systems
  • Excellent working knowledge of various packages and systems including Office 365, Windows 7/11
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated, with a can-do attitude
