Brief

Mechanical Engineer needed for a highly reputable and leading Defence organisation based in Wiltshire who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Mechanical Engineer that takes pride in their work with extensive experience of CAD drawings, develops design drawings using the SolidWorks tool set for mechanical and electrical engineering requirements to create manufacturing specifications and fully proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Engineer will include:

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

What experience you need to be the successful Mechanical Engineer:

• Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge
• Extensive experience of CAD drawings - a must have!
• Develops design drawings using the SolidWorks tool set for mechanical and electrical engineering requirements to create manufacturing specifications.
• You will be someone who can wear many hats based on the project requirements
• Excellent problem solving and time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Fully proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• You will be hands on but have fantastic communication skills in order to liaise with various departments

Desirable:

• Defence industry experience would be beneficial
• Experienced in the use of Enterprise PDM
• Electrical design experience e.g. wiring looms, control panels
• If you have worked with D38999 series of military connectors and definition/design of associated cables' that would be great…however it's not essential.
