Mechanical Fitter

Mechanical Fitter needed for a multinational financial organisation based in Salford who are looking to employ an experienced Mechanical Fitter with an interest in the design, manufacturing process and supply of a range of static tension and/or compression testing machines to work alongside the existing team in mechanical fitting team to assist in the assembly and fitting of parts and machines.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Mechanical Fitter will include:
* To mechanically assemble and build "testing" machines and other accessories, mechanically fitting parts including wiring looms and electronic displays
* Competent use of Pillar Drill, Manual Lathe, Manual Milling machine and Horizontal Grinder, and other associated tool room equipment.
* To complete all paperwork and documentation required, such as Employment, Time sheets, works orders, etc
* Fabricate and construct special tools when required
* To arrange and ensure tooling is kept in good order
* To assist with stock counts
* To liaise with other Department Managers and company members, communicating in a polite manner and offering aid to other staff
* Ensure targets are met or improved upon where set by departmental supervisor
* Report when work is completed or any issues to departmental supervisor
* Ensure parts are collated, fitted, and adapted where necessary to equipment ready for testing
* Report to departmental supervisor any changes necessary on drawings to ensure full records are kept and maintained
* To monitor and check quality assurance of products being fitted
* To ensure compliance with Company Health and Safety procedures
* To maintain compliance with company systems and procedures

What you need to be the successful Mechanical Fitter:
In order to be the successful Mechanical Fitter and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:
* Apprentice trained time served, NVQ / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline
* Time served in a mechanical apprenticeship
* City and Guilds, NVQ or BTEC qualifications or equivalent of ONC standard minimum.
* Ability to work both as part of team and under their own volition
* Solid Mechanical Engineering background
* Close tolerance assembly skills in a machine build environment
* Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, general assembly drawings and geometric tolerances
* Able to operate a variety of hand/machine tools
* References and confirmation of previous experience
* Working knowledge of all relevant current Health and Safety best practice
