Network Engineer needed for a highly reputable full-fibre broadband provider based in the Harrogate area. My clients are looking for forward thinking, enthusiastic individuals to join their team. The Network Engineer will have responsibility for the design, build, development and support of the active network within the company. This includes the passive optical network (PON), active components / outside plant in street cabinets (aggregation / OLT), and the Data Centre function which includes aggregation, core, transit and peering.

The key responsibilities of the Network Engineer:

For this role in particular the Network Engineer will:

• Build / deployment / configuration of core network, datacentre & outside plant architecture to support over 100,000 customers
• Provide project support to senior members of the team
• Provide the NOC team and field network team with a technical escalation point as the 3rd line support of incidents to resolution
• Provide documentation, guidance and mentoring to NOC engineers
• Provide network monitoring support to enable pro-active management of incidents which may impact customer service or network performance
• Participation in developing a best of breed network function
• Securing all aspects of the network from existing and future threats
• Support the development of processes and procedures to maximise network uptime and minimise service disruption
• Contribute to the development of future service provider grade network and product technology developments

The required skills and experience of the Network Engineer:

Specifically, the Network Engineer will need:

• Juniper networking accreditations are preferred but not essential if an appropriate level of experience has been gained (MX/ACX/QFX)
• Understanding of multiple network technologies (e.g IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, MPLS VPN, BNG, IPv4/IPv6, CGNAT)
• Understanding of Linux (desirable)
• Experience of coding / scripting / API (desirable)
• Experience of XGS-PON (desirable)
