Job Title: Power Engineer

The Role:
A Power Engineer is required for a leading maritime defence engineering organisation based in Cumbria. They are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Power Engineer that takes pride in their work and can make an impact to a number of projects.
The successful candidate would desirably have a relevant degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) and have previous experience within a defence or maritime engineering environment.
Some of the main duties of the Senior Power Engineer will include:
- Undertaking functional design, providing specialist advice and producing evidence in support of legislative, safety and technical requirements
- Liaising with internal and external customers as part of a technical team
- Undertaking peer reviews
- Articulating and presenting technical arguments, clearly, logically and simply
- Executing, evaluating, delivering and managing complex engineering and/or cross functional tasks/ programmes of work recognizing stakeholder and customer requirements
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for personal and team development to ensure that professional capability of the business and individual are maintained and improved
What experience you need to be the successful Power Engineer:
Essential:
Demonstrable experience of engineering system design in any of the technical specialties listed below:
- Electrical generators
- High voltage switchgear
- Power system protection
- Power electronics
Desirable:
- Experience in modelling and analysis using e.g. Matlab and Simulink
