Principal Electrical Design Engineer needed for an organisation based in Isle of Wight who are looking to employ an experienced Principal Electrical Design who is looking to design, develop and support manufacturing in-service support of radar products. They will be involved in designing efficient sub-systems for radar products, making them affordable and enhancing the capability and availability.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Principal Electrical Design Engineer will include:
* Carry out electrical design activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services with the involvement of the full Engineering Lifecycle to meet defined project or business requirements
* Carry out the design of AC and DC distribution systems
* Carry out the design of motor drives, control and positioning systems
* Specifying the design of data links, protocols, networks and servicing the requirements of procured radio communications hardware
* Carrying out EMC management and verification, including design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis and test techniques plus support to the EMC test houses and customer installation
* Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients
* Prepare and submit technical proposals and tenders as instructed by bid managers in order to provide costed proposals for future work
* Underwrite and estimate bids within authorised value levels to ensure that they capture all requirements, customer obligations and acceptance criteria
* Liaise with MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors and customers as required to satisfy the needs of projects or the business

What you need to be the successful Principal Electrical Design Engineer:
In order to be the successful Systems Engineer and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:
* Engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or scientific subject
* Experience in electrical design obtained from a complex engineering environment
* Experience mentoring others/leading more junior staff members
* Chartered engineer or working towards being so is desirable
* Effective worker both independently and as a part of a team
* Honest and transparent attitude to the professional working environment
* Ability to lead others
* Be confident presenting technical information to a range of audiences
Must be eligible for Security Clearance
