Principal Naval Architect

Brief
We are seeking a Principal Naval Architect to join a highly reputable defence organisation who are looking to employ a well-rounded and talented engineering professional. As a Principal Naval Architect, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of stability and hydrodynamics scope and providing guidance to junior team members to ensure the relevant requirements are met.
It is desirable for the successful candidate to have a relevant degree in Naval Architecture, or another relevant engineering or scientific discipline, and have a keen interest in being a Principal Naval Architect. If you have previous commercial experience as a Principal Naval Architect working on naval or maritime projects that would be a plus!
Role Responsibilities
Some of the main duties of the Principal Naval Architect will include:
- Maintaining hydrodynamics predictions in line with design requirements and working across project disciplines to achieve resolution.
- Responsible for delivering the modelling, validation and verification Scope of Work and schedule for Stability Certification.
- Providing specialist hydromechanics expertise to ensure defined objectives are achieved whilst maintaining quality and cost.
- Supporting the Naval Architecture Manager to deliver the Hydrodynamics and Stability analysis, schedule and contract deliverables.
What experience you need to be the successful Principal Naval Architect:
- Educated to Degree level in Naval Architecture or another relevant Engineering or Scientific discipline.
- Chartered Engineer or willing to work towards CEng.
- Following software experience: Paramarine, RHINO, AutoCAD, MATLAB, Simulink, CFD.
- Previous experience managing a team.
