Product Safety Engineer
Portsmouth
SC Clearance required
UK Passport Holders Only.
Responsibilities:
Provide advice and guidance to project teams and the MOD on Product Safety.
Ensure safety considerations are an integral part of the design process with awareness of the wider product lifecycle
Prepare, maintain and manage the implementation of Safety Management Systems evolving them where necessary to ensure that product safety can be managed effectively
Prepare the safety argument for all products and services delivered by the project, employing all required parts of the product safety lifecycle in accordance with the Product Safety Policy
Ensure that the standards of Product Safety defined by business and customer requirements are observed at all times (e.g. DSA02-DMR, Def Stan 00-056).
Skills and qualifications:
Safety Engineering experience in a previous role (Not HSE)
Understanding of SFAIRP and ALARP principles
Hold relevant knowledge and have working experience of Defstan 00-56.
Good communication skills with peers, customers and line management.
