Product Safety

This role will provide you with an opportunity to lead in facilitating the Safety Engineering arguments for the ships in a major programme. You will work with the team to justify the claims that the ship design is safe with all the evidence and justifications available brought together to a collective piece or a model to collect this.
Responsibilities:
Supporting the Chief Engineer in planning, coordinating and effective delivery of Product Safety within the Project;
Developing and subsequently maintaining the Product Safety Management Arrangements in support of the Project
Undertaking a range of Product Safety activities in line with all relevant project and corporate processes and specific customer requirements, including co-ordination and delivery of Product Safety Function outputs contributing to the Whole Ship Safety Case Report
Undertaking review, qualification and approval activities relative to deliverable and delivered items and facilitating the implementation of relevant Product Safety processes and production of deliverables
Supporting the development and mentoring Product Safety and Environmental Engineers
Skills and qualifications:
Essentials
Track record of delivering safety in large or complex projects is essential
Familiar with Marine Engineering Product Environmental Legislation and Regulation;
Experienced in safety risk management, this will include hazard identification, analysis, risk assessment and risk mitigation;
Familiar with rules, operating methodologies and certifying responsibilities of Naval Authorities
Ability to construct cogent and coherent safety case reports, including integration of Human Element aspects of safety arguments;
Personal Profile:
Good communication and influencing skills are key, you will need to have good leadership and coaching skills, enjoy developing others and working with a geographically dispersed team.
You will need to be able to demonstrates customer focus and be able to prioritise to ensure that tight timescales can be met.
