Project Engineer

Southend On Sea

Brief

Project Engineer needed for a leading defense organisation based in Southend On Sea who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Project Engineer that takes pride in their work creating and managing the way trials are set up to be carried out for their customers.

The successful candidate would desirably have minimum HNC/ONC education.

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Project engineer will include:

  • Support the Trials Manager taking all trials through the Hazardous Activity Management (HAM) process including the creation of safety paperwork such as Hazardous activity risk assessments, safety briefs, handling and transport plans.
  • Produce the trials safety certificate ensuring it is authorised by the required people prior to testing
  • Manage the design and manufacture of any rigs required for the programme of work, ensuring rigs are delivered before testing is due to start.
  • All customer owned assets and equipment must be managed in accordance with the relevant corporate instruction
  • Manage and host customer visits. This includes requesting the relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS) and competencies before attending site.
  • Produce a Trials Instruction detailing the tests required in accordance with customer requirements
  • Manage any trial deviations or occurrence in accordance with ETC quality procedures
  • Produce a trials report on completion of a test activity
  • Working with the delivery engineers to resolve day to day trial issues to ensure projects are delivered on time with any issues escalated to the Trials Manager
  • Daily updating of the range control page to managing ammunition safety distances across ETC
  • Ensuring ammunition is moved around site safely and is delivered in time for testing to commence

What experience you need to be the successful Project Engineer:

  • Understand Customer requirements and technical solutions
  • Work with detailed project plans
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills
  • High level of IT competence
  • Good understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and 9001
  • Subject to security clearance
  • Must have drivers licence and own car
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels, both internal and external including customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Committed to achievement
