Project Engineer (Nuclear) needed


Based in Bristol

I am looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join my client's rapidly growing project delivery team. Your main duty will be to support clients' projects in nuclear, energy and other engineering sectors. This role would be perfect for an experienced Project Engineer with a nuclear or similar background.


Key responsibilities for the successful Project Engineer:

  • Project support to Technical Leads, Project Managers and/or Programme Managers
  • Potential for further development in project, safety or technical discipline
  • Specific roles suited to the individual across a number of Nuclear sectors, Generation, New Build and Defuelling /Decommissioning
  • Supporting technical / engineering activities, safety cases and other assurance requirements in complex projects and typically in highly regulated sectors.
  • Likely focus on civil nuclear clients in the South West, also work on defence and other civil projects.
  • Support the Project Manager with day to day activities required to deliver work in line with the project plan including safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including Quality Plans and other documents as required
  • Production of technical documentation/reports to underpin programme delivery and safety case requirements where appropriate
  • Manage technical queries in accordance with process and procedures
  • Technical appraisals of project options, feasibility studies, site surveys and liaison with designers and engineering staff
  • Significant proportion of time likely to be working at client sites

Requirements for the Successful Project Engineer:

Degree or other higher education qualified in areas featuring some or all of:

  • Technical/Engineering or scientific subjects
  • Project development and management
  • Other areas/skills with applicability to project support and assurance roles

Beneficial will be experience/understanding of:

  • Nuclear or comparable projects
  • Work in nuclear, defence or other engineering contexts
  • Quality, safety, environmental assurance processes
  • Experience of working within engineering and support functions
  • Strong communications, both written and verbal
  • Pro-active approach
  • Quick to learn new systems, processes and organisations
  • Quick to establish good working relationships with clients
  • Flexible, happy to work in roles that will change and develop as projects progress
