Responsibilities and Duties.
Take full ownership of a project at the point of handover.
Relationship and Stakeholder Management.
Act as the point of contact between the client and the company, promoting a professional approach at all times.
Recognise, present and negotiate variations with the customer. Using internal engineering specialists as required.
Project Manager/Engineers are responsible for the customer contact post order and all liaison internally, to ensure Quality, on time delivery and costs are in full control across all departments and customer, at all times through contract.
To be the Voice of the Customer internally. Assist in responding and answering any customer questions and internal queries by putting people together as required.
Customer and supplier visits will be required as part of the Project Managers/Engineers role. This will include, but not limited to, managing customer complaints, supporting sales activities, inspection of special items from suppliers and face to face meetings with the customer.
The Project Manager/Engineer will work across the full supply chain, from our clients to our suppliers, to understand their working methods and requirements, enabling us to manage interactions such as drawing approvals, witness testing, transport, documentation, third party requirements and importantly changes to schedules and technical specifications.
Lead the Communication. Share the bad and good news, advise customers of delays / additional costs as required and appropriate following co-ordination with the responsible sales person and management as appropriate.
Simple technical details to be checked specifically including scope of supply, the correct customer specifications and drawings are available with copies being made available plus any special requirements, special features and contractual conditions, including for example; QA inspections, coating system, paint colour, shipping and packaging requirements etc.
You would not be expected to complete mechanical design checks. This is the responsibility of other departments within the business. It is the projects responsibility this is done in accordance with the project programme to avoid delays.
Issue updated project programmes to customers on a weekly basis.
At every stage, Quality, On Time Delivery (OTD) and Costs are critical measures. These all need to be managed to ensure customer expectations are meet.
Establish the contract budgets and then monitor/control resources and purchasing to meet the budget requirements.
Monitor all costs on projects, review and highlighting any large variances and differences.
