QA Engineer

Gatwick

Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 + Benefits

Currently looking for a QA Engineer to work for a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, based in Gatwick

As a QA Engineer, you will work alongside other engineers as part of a close-knit Scrum team to ensure products meet high levels of reliability, maintainability, usability and performance.

Some of the general specification and requirements of the QA Engineer will include:

Essential:

  • Proficient in software development using C# .NET or other object-oriented languages (e.g. Java),
  • Experience developing test automation for web UI's using Selenium and SpecFlow,
  • Experience developing API-level test automation for RESTful services,
  • Experience overseeing the end-to-end QA for web applications (unit, integration, system, non-functional),
  • Experience with the Agile/Scrum development lifecycle in a commercial/production environment,
  • Industry experience with defect management systems and workflows.

Desirable:

  • Appreciation of current and emerging test-related technologies and methodologies,
  • Experience with XUnit, Moq,
  • Experience working with Microsoft VSTS/Azure DevOps and Git,
  • JavaScript coding skills and knowledge of relevant frameworks (preferably Angular Typescript)

About the QA Engineer role:

  • Define test strategies to support the development of major new features or of new applications,
  • Design, implement and document test environments and frameworks supporting the agreed strategy,
  • Work with the Product Owner and the Tech Lead to help define User Stories and acceptance criteria,
  • Define detailed story-level test plans providing extensive coverage using automation wherever possible,
  • Develop C# UI/API system tests (e.g. using Selenium, SpecFlow), and as required integration/unit tests,
  • Execute a wide range of functional/non-functional tests, manual and automated,
  • Review and debug product and test code to identify defects or performance bottlenecks,
  • Support the Product Owner to close stories, validating acceptance criteria and defect fixes,
  • Analyse test data and produce test reports for relevant check-points or milestones,
  • Participate in Agile/scrum activities (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), striving to continuously improve the team velocity, its processes and engineering practices,
  • Participate in software design meetings and work with software engineers to ensure testability and best practices are built into the product architecture and code,
  • Investigate new test tools/methodologies and integrate them as part of the team practices and continuous integration processes, also liaising with other teams to share knowledge and best practices.
