Quality Inspector



A strong and experienced Quality Inspector is required for a new role in Bedfordshire for a large and well-known aerospace and defence company.

The role of Quality Inspector is as below:

The Quality Inspector uses predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electro-mechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds.

  • Uses various measuring devices.
  • Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, pre-set micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists.
  • Conduct Verification at Source Inspections at Supplier locations.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Other skills may include:
    • CofC Awareness, FAIR, Inspection Plans, Non-Conformance Management, use of Inspection Notes, Calibration of gauges and measuring equipment, Metrology equipment utilisation & Goods-In inspection appreciation, monitoring and inspection operations & verification at source activities.

The Quality Inspector shall be able to demonstrate experiences in a range of the following core Quality Inspections skills;

  • Experience in a similar inspection role within a manufacturing organisation.
  • Experience in the use of some of the following metrology equipment; CMM / Laser Tracker / Faro Arm.
  • Experience in CMM programming via PC-DMIS software.
  • A Detailed understanding of first principle methodology.
  • Experience in Goods-in and Source Release activities.
  • Involvement within Calibration activities.
  • Creation of Non-Conformance reports and associated Root Cause Analysis.
  • Awareness in Electrical testing.
  • Strong SAP user skills.
  • J-Standard / IPC experience, awareness or qualification.

Flexibility, time management skills, critical thinking and problem solving are key attributes linked to this role.

Abilities needed for this Quality Inspector position:

  • Ability to work within a high-pressure production environment.
  • Strong people engagement and communication skills.
  • Awareness &/or appreciation of calibration activities.
  • Awareness &/or appreciation of mechanical inspection disciplines.
  • Goods inward Inspection experience would be of benefit.
  • IPC 610 & 620 skills or awareness.

Please note the successful quality inspector will need to obtain and maintain SC clearance.
