Brief
My client are looking for talented engineers to join thier team in the Gloucestershire area. The company continues to expand its capability within the Electronic Warfare and Cyber (EW & C) arena. Engineers and technologists, with core competencies in Radio Frequency Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Communications Engineering, are required within the RF research service team. This dynamic and innovative team researches the application of RF technologies (for example RF protocols and RF chipsets) within the commercial arena.
What experience you need to be the successful Radio Frequency Technology Researcher:
- Apply their specific knowledge, combined with ingenuity and creativity, to better understand which technologies manufacturers have employed within their products and how such technologies may have been customised.
- Conduct open source research into existing and emerging RF technologies.
- Write technical reports, encapsulating their research findings, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Develop research tools that facilitate and expedite the team's throughput.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Digital communications theory.
- Modulation schemes from simple FSK to more advanced OFDM and Spread Spectrum
- Encoding and decoding techniques.
- Forward error correction algorithms.
- Software Defined Radio theory and supporting technologies.
- Use of specialist test equipment for measurement of non-cooperative signals.
- Configuration and setup of test equipment for RF analysis.
- Ability to inspect waveforms and determine characteristics and parameters to enable further analysis.
- A degree in a related subject is not essential; candidates with equivalent vocational experience will be considered.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience:
- Link budget analysis
- DSP (e.g. filter design)
- Python/C++
- Team player.
- An eye for detail: reports must be of a high-quality.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision.
- Desire to develop well-rounded software engineering skills.
- Proven ability to learn quickly.
Please note that eligibility for UK security clearance up to SC level is required for the Radio Frequency Technology Researcher position.
