Repairs Electronics Technician
My client is a leading developer of mission and safety critical equipment in the aerospace and defence industries
They are looking for a Repairs Electronics Technician to join their Operations Repairs Team. They are responsible for strip, investigation, repair, final assembly and testing of our products.
The job will involve bringing a piece of equipment in, visually inspecting it, running it through the test procedure, reporting the faults, then fault find to identify the source of the faults. They will then be required to list the parts required to 'make good' the equipment, followed by writing an investigation report. The final procedures will be repairing and retesting.
Some of the main duties of the Repairs Electronics Technician will include:
Reviewing their job progress on an annual basis with the objective of achieving continuous improvement. They will need to adhereand contribute to the advancement of the Company Mission.
Testing and checking product and paperwork to the required specifications. Where non conformities are found it will be the jobholders responsibility to carry out diagnostic testing and determine root cause to identify the necessary corrective action.
Act as the cell link into both the quality and engineering teams within PCS. Specifically, technician grade staff are technicalchampions and are expected to patrol technical compliance across the cell/team and mentor staff where appropriate in order tocontinuously improve technical output from the team/cell.
Maintain awareness and attend training courses as applicable for the purpose of the Company and self development
Adhere at all times to Company Procedure
Demonstrate sound technical leadership with his/her team
To work with your suppliers to ensure the correct delivery of your requirements
To carry out any other duties as may be reasonably requested
To work with the team and alongside the team leader to act as the main technical point of contact for the cell
To guide and coach members of the cell to ensure that all cell production meets the required technical standards in terms of qualityand functionality
Be an accessible technical point of contact for the team/cell by other areas of the business
What you need to be the successful Repairs Electronics Technician:
Background and Understanding
Full understanding of the expectations and requirements of your primary customer
To work with fellow team members in a respectful and courteous manner
A full understanding of the responsibility that comes from being an the company's certified inspection stamp holder
Thorough knowledge of continuous improvement methods, in particular 'lean' and use this understanding to question and wherenecessary challenge constructively any operation or instruction believed not to be the most effective option for the Company or itscustomers
5 years experience at level 3 minimum and/or a formal engineering qualification (NVQ/C&G/ONC etc)
Must be able to read drawings and write investigation reports
Must be able to follow test procedures and use both automated and hand held test equipment
Must be able to fault find equipment and identify failures and root cause
Perfect colour vision - actual importance dependent upon specific role
Previous experience in an electronics and/or PCB and/or harness manufacturing environment
Previous experience in a supervisory capacity
Working knowledge of the company's concession process and ECR process
