Brief
Road Safety Engineer needed to join a leading highways service provider in Essex. Reporting to the Team Lead, it will be your responsibility as the Road Safety Engineer to assist in the delivery of annual Road Safety Audits, collision investigation programs and fatal road death investigation processes in order to reduce casualties.
It's important for the successful Road Safety Engineer to possess prior experience in Road Safety Engineering / Collision Investigation and have carried out a minimum of 5 Road Safety Audits in the last year alone.

What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Road Safety Engineer will include:
- Assisting the Team Leader by forming an integral part of the road safety engineering team.
- Contribute to identifying and introducing new practices and procedures to deliver efficiencies and respond to technological advances.
- Assist in facilitating Road Safety discussions with other professional staff and is able to work in partnership with a range of other key stakeholders.
- To be the technical expert in collision analysis and a safety audit team leader, promoting good practice throughout the organization.
- To be responsible for providing timely and accurate advice to County Councillors, District Members, Parish Councils and the general public on all highway-related safety matters as required.
- To provide detailed and courteous responses to queries and complaints in accordance with relevant targets and standards.
- To provide assistance to the Team Leader and Senior Engineer in relation to budgetary checks for all Casualty Reduction schemes, ensuring all schemes are delivered to budget, and to the specified programme
What experience you need to be the successful Road Safety Engineer:
- 4 years Road Safety Engineering / Collision Investigation experience and be currently undertaking this role
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant Professional Institution.
- Have carried out a minimum of 5 Road Safety Audits in the last 12 months (preferred)
- Detailed knowledge of Highway Legislation, relevant design procedures and standards and good practice.
