Safety Engineer

Permanent (37.5hrs Per week)
Hybrid / Remote working options available.

South West / Bristol / Bath / Wiltshire / Warrington base location would be ideal but not critical.

Salary range: £40,000 to £70,000 per annum - dep on experience.

SC Clearance (eligibility) required.


The Role
We are looking for Safety Engineers to join a successful Aerospace & Defence Team for a client that specialises in Safety Engineering across the Air, Rail and Nuclear domains.
You will be part of a team working on some of the most advanced and pioneering engineering programmes in the UK, Europe and around the world. You will support clients to bring innovative concepts and technologies across the civil and military aerospace industries to reality, including the latest developments in the future of Air Mobility and unmanned flying vehicles !

Responsibilities

    • Functional Safety analysis via application of appropriate regulatory requirements, legislation, tools and techniques.
    • Work closely with system designers, regulators, certification bodies, operators, systems engineering throughout the development lifecycle regarding safety items.
    • Identify and create evidence to support system assurance, using safety related activities to support the traceability of system safety requirements, to implementation and operation.
    • Perform hazard analysis to define safety requirements and detailed systems analysis.
    • Develop safety arguments and draft safety cases to support assurance and certification activities.
    • Support clients with specification, development or delivery of their safety case programmes.
    • Assist in proposal and client development and resource estimation for relevant projects and completion of tasks.
    • Carry out reviews of third-party safety analysis (FMECA, FTA, ETA etc.).

Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are looking for Safety Engineers who have worked in a design environment and are well versed in the tools and techniques required to meet civil and military standards.

    • Work experience in Safety Engineering gained in an aerospace or aviation related environment.
    • Knowledge of safety standards such as CS25, CS23, CS-E, ARP4754A, 4761 and 5150a, DO178B/C and DO254.
    • Knowledge and experience in the application of military standards including DEF-STAN 00-56 and Mil-Std 882E.
    • Proven experience of producing safety assessment reports and other artefacts including FTA/FEMA/S, MBSA, BowTie Analysis etc.
    • Knowledge and experience of developing system safety arguments and safety cases including the use of Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument Evidence (CAE).
    • Experience of working directly with clients with an ability to present information and findings in either a clearly written and structured report or presentation format.
    • Able to communicate across all levels of the company. Are articulate with an ability to negotiate, persuade and listen.
    • High level of drive and enthusiasm; flexible and positive attitude; adaptable and resilient.
    • Must hold or be willing to be Security Cleared.
