An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially aware Senior Buyer with a keen eye for detail to join a leading main contractor in either their London, Manchester or Birmingham offices. The Senior Buyer will be joining a growing part of my clients business and responsible for the procurement of subcontract services across the country.
Working closely with the Procurement Manager, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for improving and implementing the procurement strategy, reviewing contracts and finalising terms. Some of your duties also include:
- Negotiating directly with their suppliers, ensuring competitive rates and terms for the supply of services
- Undertake supplier administration and build relationships with suppliers
- Provide support to the wider project teams and partners with all matters relating to procurement
- Manage the tender process from start to finish, taking responsibility for document preparation, negotiations, contract awards, contract management and supplier relationship management
- Ensure sound record keeping
Senior Buyers considering this opportunity will need to have previous experience working as a Buyer responsible for the procurement of subcontract services (candidates with experience solely within materials procurement will not be considered). You'll need an understanding of contracts, commercial skills, excellent communication skills and be keen to develop your career and those around you. My client would be particularly keen to speak with candidates from a QS background who wish to utilise their commercial and contractual experience in this role.
The successful Senior Buyer can expect a generous salary & package that includes:
- Starting salary of £60,000 to £65,000
