Some of the main duties of the Senior Development Scientist with Optical Hardware Design experience will include:
- You will be responsible for contributing to the sustaining and development of instrument systems by exhibiting good practical and theoretical knowledge of optical systems, including lasers and diode lasers, and diffractive optics
- To model optical systems from set specifications and schematics and create new experimental optical layouts
- Create algorithms to explore new opportunities in generating more insight from existing data
- Design experiments to explore research and improvement exercises and be able to process and distribute the findings to a broad audience
In order to be the successful Senior Development Scientist with Optical Hardware Design experience and have a chance to gain such an exciting opportunity you will ideally need to have the following:
- Graduate Physicist, Optical, Mechanical, Chemist, Chemical Engineer, Mathematician or equivalent
- A proven track record in optics and/or opto-mechanics, and/or instrument hardware in particular grating and laser technologies
- Proficiency in modelling and designing complex optical assemblies
- Experience with mathematical modelling of physical problems
- Possess a pragmatic approach to complex decision-making by taking an analytical process to problem-solving to present and document solutions to complex problems to a varied audience in a variety of media
Nice To haves?
- A PhD would be advantageous
- Mathematical modelling of complex systems using MATLAB or similar would be advantageous
- Knowledge in Zemax or similar modelling tools is highly advantageous, analysing, diffraction systems
- Knowledge and application of Lean Design or Design for Six Sigma tools advantageous
