Senior Environmental Consultant needed for a leading Consultancy who are based in Bristol. They are looking to employ an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant, who has strong practical knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance

The right candidate will play an important part in the technical development, and ongoing growth, of my clients environmental & sustainability consultancy group. You will have practical experience of environmental management, regulatory control, corporate governance and environmental compliance. This experience will be within the Defence, Nuclear, Renewables, Rail and/or Marine sectors.

Experience needed for the successful Senior Environmental Consultant:

  • Hold a degree in an Environmental Science;
  • Be chartered, or working towards chartered status, with a relevant professional body;
  • A good knowledge of environmental permitting and management systems would be beneficial;
  • Have strong analytical skills and an ability to effectively communicate environmental information / requirements to senior managers;
  • Have excellent networking skills. For more senior candidates this will be demonstrated by a portfolio of established industry contacts;
  • Be an effective team worker;
  • Demonstrate an ability to take the lead regardless of position;
  • Be commercially aware with an ability to recognise project risk and business opportunity;
  • Have experience of working in an engineering environment alongside Design/Safety Engineers;
  • Experience in a number of the technical areas outlined below:
  • Environmental Aspects, Risk and Impact Assessments;
  • Provision of regulatory compliance advice & support;
  • Development of Environmental Management Systems;
  • Environmental Risk & Compliance Auditing;
  • Environmental Permitting;
  • Design for the Environment;
  • Disposal and closure planning for major operations and/or systems;
  • EPR/RSA Permitting/ Authorisation and Regulatory Interface;
  • Integrated Waste Strategy;
  • Decommissioning and Waste Plans;
  • Radioactive Waste Management;
  • BAT, BPEO/BPM and Optimisation Techniques.

It is to your advantage if you meet any or all the following additional requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working within multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Experience of working within a Systems Engineering environment on Systems Engineering focussed projects.
  • Existing strong client relationships, and workload, in environmental consultancy.
  • Experience in a number of the technical areas outlined below:
  • Best Available Techniques (BAT) Studies and Gap Analysis;
  • Options Appraisals & Optioneering;
  • Waste Minimisation & Management Strategy;
  • Pre-Acquisition / Transactional Environmental Due Diligence;
  • Divestiture Regulatory Compliance;
  • Post Diligence Auditing / Risk Management;
  • Environmental Liability Analysis;
  • Environmental Permitting and Exemption Registrations;
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Management;
  • Environmental Impact Assessment;
  • Ground Water and Waste Water Management;
  • Non-Radioactive and Hazardous Waste Management;
  • Environmental Performance Monitoring and Statutory Reporting;
  • Public Consultation and Stakeholder Management;
