Job Title: Senior Health, Safety and Training Advisor for a Highways Company
Reports to: Managing Director
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 plus bonus, Car and benefits
Job Summary of a Senior Health, Safety and Training Advisor:
To co-ordinate, support and advise the business on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety are adhered to. To manage and develop our workforce competency programmes to help us maintain a fully competent team.
Key Duties of the Senior Health, Safety and Training Advisor:
*Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures and rules and regulations are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
*Developing a new electronic management systems for company records in relation to health, safety, competency, and the contractors we work with.
*Advise of impending changes to ISO / OHSAS standards, statutory legislation and industry guidance; together with action planning for managing how changes should be implemented.
*Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
*Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented. Supporting investigations following reporting incidents under RIDDOR, liaising with enforcing authorities as required.
*Implement leading and lagging indicator process for safety performance. Regularly reviewing and providing regular feedback to all levels on current performance.
*Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
*Provide advice to team members to allow implementation of industry leading safe systems of work.
*Review the effectiveness of the current audit / inspection programme
*Review current health and safety training strategy and ensure schemes are managed to ensure a fully competent workforce, managing the process of vocational qualification delivery, working with training providers and developing in house training programmes.
*Perform regular safety audits and behavioural safety interactions to gauge current levels of performance - reporting on findings both positive and areas of improvement, monitoring actions required/ NCR's to ensure continual improvement.
*Help maintain accreditation / registration to Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) and other vendor portals
*Manage and devise the agenda for monthly Health & Safety meetings. Ensuring that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
*Support changes/enhancement of the systems to increase alignment between systems and operations; in collaboration with external auditors.
*Conduct joint-inspections with TC and FTG personnel to impart skills and knowledge
*Support HSEQ engagement with Tripod Crest and FTG strategic customers, communicating best practice/lessons learnt from within the industry.
*Assist in the completion of relevant sections of tender applications.
*Ensure Tripod Crest Ltd and associated companies are presented in a professional manner.

Essential Experience & Personal Attributes
NEBOSH Diploma / NVQ Level or similar qualification
Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or working towards Chartered Status
Up to date knowledge of health and safety legislation
Minimum 5 years' experience managing health & safety in the construction. Extractives or civil sector, with demonstrable evidence in organisational change
Good understanding and application of the CDM Regulations 2015
Excellent organisational and communication skills at all levels, with the ability to influence key personnel
'Hands on' practical approach, with a willingness to regularly engage onsite
Management of contractors and training providers
Competent user of Microsoft Office software
Experience of delivery of training programmes and managing vocational assessment
