Senior Quantity Surveyor (Lead QS)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a busy, privately owned civil engineering contractor delivering a £100m+ heavy civils project on the outskirts of Portsmouth. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be taking a lead role on the project, responsible for the overall commercial and financial management of the project from start to finish alongside the development of a small commercial team that will include 3 other surveyors at various stages of their careers.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be working closely with the Commercial Manager and taking the project from procurement and tendering through to final account settlement. Some of your key duties will include:
- Overseeing the procurement & tendering process
- Providing the site team with support on all contractual and commercial related matters
- Identify, mitigate and manage all commercial risks and opportunities
- Provide the companies management team with accurate progress reports against forecasts
- Subcontractor management
- Act as a mentor to the other surveyors within the team
- Work closely with the client and other stakeholders across the project
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be offered a role that includes exposure to a £100m+ heavy civil engineering project where you will be working as the lead surveyor. You'll be given the opportunity to build a team, put your own mark on the project and offered a competitive salary & package that includes:

Senior Quantity Surveyors considering this opportunity must be driven to develop their own careers and have previous experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects within the UK. You'll need previous experience using the NEC contract and also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
