Senior DevOps Software Engineer needed for a leading defence electronics & engineering organisation who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Senior DevOps Software Engineer that takes pride in their work.
Positions are available at our client's sites in West London, High Wycombe and Weymouth. An onsite presence will be required, however there is the flexibility of remote working from time to time.
The successful Senior DevOps Software Engineer would desirably be educated to degree level, or equivalent professional/vocational qualification. Experience wise, we desire a candidate who has good knowledge of Virtualisation, Containerization and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) design, deploy and maintain a scalable infrastructure capable of hosting multiple software development teams across different sites, countries and projects.
Hands-on experience of DevOps tools and practices such as Docker and Kubernetes is essential, as well as Linux RedHat.
What the role of the Senior DevOps Software Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Senior DevOps Software Engineer will include:
- Construction & Maintenance of the Software Development Environment
- Collaboration with colleagues across the world to ensure the system is always available
- Provide support to the application developers on an as needed basis
- Linux Operating System configuration
- Linux application management and deployment
- Accountable for cost and schedule of assigned work
What experience you need to be the successful Senior DevOps Software Engineer:
- Hands on experience of DevOps practices and tools
- Docker and Kubernetes
- VMware ESXi
- Knowledge of RedHat OpenShift
- Knowledge of Red Hat configuration including production of Kickstart files
- Experience of Red Hat Linux application development
- Red Hat certification (RHCSA, RHCE) or similar
- Knowledge of IP Network design and optimization
- Knowledge of RTI DDS
- Knowledge of C++ or Java Development
- Proficient with a variety of Software Configuration Tools including SVN and GIT
- Degree in engineering, computer science or related subject
