Settlements Specialist / Settlements Analyst needed - Based in Croydon - Permanent position - Up to £55,000 per annum

I am currently recruiting for a Settlement Specialist / Settlement Analyst to join my client's team in one of their blue chip offices based in Croydon. My client is a globally recognised and respected Energy company. The successful Settlement Specialist must have extensive financial and purchasing experience within energy or a similar industry.

The successful Settlements Specialist / Settlements Analyst will be entitled to excellent beneifts including:

Some of the main duties of the Settlements Specialist / Settlements Analyst include:

  • Support the financial leadership and be a key point of contact for Settlements matters across EDF Energy
  • Support the overall delivery of the validation and settlement of -
    • volume of energy sales and purchases across gas and power
    • transportation costs for power, gas and coal including - Distribution Use of System (DUoS), Balancing Services Use of System (BSUoS) and Transmission Use of System (TNUoS)
    • Renewable Obligations
    • distributed generation
    • emissions trading activities
  • In accordance with contractual or standard industry payment terms for EDF Energy and associated third parties (i.e. NDA). Responsibility for the financial implications of this activity not being delivered to agreed time and / or quality levels sits within this team. A level of understanding of the contractual consequences of not meeting timelines or quality levels needs to be clearly understood and owned within the team
  • Lead the understanding and interpreting of industry changes and working as an interface between business and industry ensure all changes are implemented with no detrimental impact to the business. Ensure that the delivery of change is in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Support the application, alignment and development of the controls landscape operating, across the team, within the wider EDF Energy environment and incorporating services provided by external teams to Settlements (i.e. Vendor Management, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities

Requirements to be the successful Settlement Specialist:

  • Relevant degree preferably in Finance / Economics/ Business Studies and relevant post - qualification experience
  • Ability to understand and interpret the impact on the industry, company and division of the changes to the industry such as the Energy Markets Review (EMR), Smarter Markets Programme, gas market changes, REMIT and EMIR reporting obligations, National Grid transmission changes, renewable obligations and emission trading
  • Experience in financial transactional management, billing and credit control, management of significant teams
  • A good understanding of accounting principles
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry, keeping abreast of changes
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering successful business change and process improvement
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships across the business and industry
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at a variety of levels both internally and externally
  • Strong reporting experience and the ability to effectively communicate Management Information at a variety of levels
  • Excellent problem solving skills using both logic and intuition to derive solutions for both finance and the business
  • Strong numerical, modelling and analytical skills
  • Strong organisational skills and delivery focused
