Software Engineer

Software Engineer needed for a highly reputable defence and aerospace organisation based in Ampthill. The role is fully remote with occasional travel to the site. This organisation is a corporation with both domestic and international customers. It consists of business areas focusing on Platform Integration, Ground Based Air Defence, Special Projects and Weapons, which provide a variety of products and services to the Ministry of Defence and other customers.
The successful Software Engineer will be given responsibilities across the full range of activities within the software development lifecycle, including: development of requirements, input into the design process, development of software code, testing, debugging and production of associated documentation. The candidate will also be responsible for providing software support to other teams as directed, and input into the software planning and monitoring process. The role will be carried out under the supervision of a software engineering manager.
The required skills of the Software Engineer:
For this role in particular the Software Engineer will need:
- Proven and demonstrable evidence of capabilities in software engineering
- Proven and demonstrable evidence of capabilities in C++ and Object Oriented Development
- Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g. Greenhills, QNX, VxWorks)
- Proven and demonstrable experience of working as part of an integrated team on a large-scale programme
- Strong oral and written communication skills
The desired skills of the Software Engineer:
It would be beneficial is the Software Engineer has:
- Experience in the completion of software engineering activities within a government customer environment
- Self starter with the ability to work with little supervision
- Experience implementing software in a safety related environment
- Experience using IBM Doors and Rhapsody
- Knowledge and familiarity with test tools (e.g. LDRA, Parasoft)
