£50,000 - £60,000 Base Salary.

This System Safety Engineer position is ideal for talented and ambitious individuals with proven experience in delivering complex, high value, safety critical components and managed services from a range of suppliers.
Duties and Background:
Evolve and review safety designs for products, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and the establishment of safety requirements for assigned systems.
Focusing a team to meet schedule deadline, resolve complex technical and operational performance problems.
Participate actively in projects to establish the content and degree of System Safety Engineer support required for each Project.
Develop acceptable risk criteria from first principles of System Safety Engineering.
Deliver hazard identification and hazard analysis requirements using appropriate hazard analysis types and techniques
Develop and deliver appropriate ALARP strategies
Development and delivery of safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational requirements
Participate in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions
Evaluate the interrelationship of System Safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective program
System Safety Engineer requirements:
Qualified to degree or equivalent standard in an engineering subject.
Proven experience in a safety-associated role, preferably in the defence industry.
Determination and allocation of SILs.
Detailed understanding and experience of UK, US and EEC Safety Legislation.
Fully familiar with the relevant Joint Service Publications and Defence Standards associated with the system safety assessment of defence equipment.
The role will require the candidate to have good verbal and written skills.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience:
Experience in the safety management of OME products.
Working knowledge and understanding of the UK MoD Design Certification and clearance process.
