Systems Integration Engineer
Portsmouth and Glasgow
Brief
Systems Integration Engineer needed for a Defence and Security organisation with offices in Portsmouth and Glasgow, who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Systems Integration Engineer. This role will provide you with the chance to operate out of a unique facility, working across multiple complex systems on a range of different equipments. You will be carrying out various testing and trialing to ensure a high level of design assurance and functional integration.
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Systems Integration Engineer will include:
- Participating in the trials, testing and integration activities of complex systems
- Post analysis of data
- Production of assurance reports and/or technical notes that provides supporting evidence to the customer for the issuing of clearance of equipment to be put on our end platforms
- On a task-by-task basis you will be nominated as the task lead, you will coordinate several other engineers to ensure that the task is completed to the estimate and in a timely manner and the output meets expectations
- Participating in meetings, reviews and workshops as required by the Customer and external stakeholders
- Communicating in verbal and written format tailored to the audience
What experience you need to be the successful Systems Integration Engineer:
Essential:
- Experience of complex Systems Engineering (understanding of the system of systems approach)
- Experience with testing, commissioning and the acceptance process
- Experience of Integration Testing (Bottom-up, Top-down or Sandwich)
- Understanding of the interaction of equipment in a complex systems environment.
- Demonstrable ability in investigative fault-finding
Desirable:
- Experience of virtualisation approaches and technologies (VMs, Virtual Memory, VDI, Virtual applications, etc.)
- Knowledge of Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model framework
- Exposure to network architecture in a virtual or traditional environment (working within, not designing)
- Experienced stakeholder management skills
- Exposure to the VMware product range (vSphere, Tanzu, vSAN, vCenter Server, vRealize, etc.)
